2011-2012 Reflections Theme: “Diversity Means...”
Entry deadline for Pope students: Monday, October 10, 2011
The PTSA National Reflection Program supports the
fine arts and is an important standard of creative excellence in the education field. Students
have the opportunity to showcase their creative energies and talents with original works of
art. Winners of this award proudly add this designation to their college admission forms and
job applications.
There are 6 categories from which the students can enter - Dance Choreography, Film Production,
Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. To view and download participation

Community Outreach Committee
Hounds Helping Others
Pope’s Community Outreach Club needs volunteers on Sunday, October 3rd to work the
MUST Ministries Food Drive at the North Georgia State Fair at Jim Miller Park (2245 Calloway
Road off Powder Springs Road in west Cobb). Shift times are 12:30-3:30pm; 3:30-6:30pm
and 6:30-9:30pm. All volunteers get FREE admission to the Fair, and you may come early
or stay after your shift to enjoy the festivities! Please contact Cassie Rogers at cassie.n.rogers@lmco.com

through actions and accountability
Differences
and similarities can include age, ethnicity, language and culture, economic status, educational
background, gender, geographic location, marital status, mental ability, national origin,
parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation,
and work experience.

What does Diversity and Inclusion look like at Pope? Some of the more recent efforts
include:
- Education and awareness on bullying, led by the Pope Guidance Office
- We need you as a Cultural Expert or Resource! You can help bring learning to life
as a cultural resource for our faculty and students! Simply fill out
the attached form and turn it into the Pope High School Front Office or one of our

Volunteer Classroom Readers
Show a Child How Much You Care
Become a classroom reading volunteer at our sister school, Powers Ferry Elementary. Spend 30 minutes
to an hour with "your" class of adorable elementary school kids, and you will walk away smiling,
guaranteed! Visit your class once a week, every other week, or even just once per month. For more information,
